Clifford Martin Meier (1943-2026)

Clifford Martin Meier, 82, passed away at his home in Lincoln, Kan., on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, following an extended illness. He was born the fifth of seven children to Martin and Alberta (Meyer) Meier at the family farm two miles east of St. Paul Lutheran Church in southeast Lincoln County. Clifford was a 1962 graduate of Lincoln High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served for three years and was stationed in Germany. He was a lifetime member of Lincoln VFW Post 7928.
Clifford married Vivian Lawless at St. John Lutheran Church on Jan. 2, 1971. He worked at several jobs, including for the Mobil station in Lincoln. He became the manager of the Mobil station located at the I-70 and K-14 intersection near Ellsworth when it opened in 1967. Clifford would later purchase the station and was the owner and operator of Cliff’s Service, which carried the Conoco brand for many years. He sold the station in 2008 after 35 years in business. He remained working at the station as an employee of D&S Convenience Shop until the summer of 2024.
Clifford is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vivian; daughter Marsha Drennan (Mark); grandchildren Mattie and Marek Drennan; siblings Anita Lewis, Clarence Meier, Kenneth Meier, Nolan Meier (Debbie) and Lleanna Wollesen (Jerry); and beloved friend and co-worker Desiree Newell (Brian) and their daughters Madison, Brooklyn and Reese. He was preceded in death by his sister Laura Princ and her husband Edwin, as well as brother-in-law Leroy Lewis and sisters-in-law Lore Meier and Deanna Meier.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at Hall Chapel of Lincoln, with family present to greet visitors from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln, with burial following at Lincoln Cemetery with military honors. A luncheon will follow the burial at St. John Lutheran Church.
