Judy K. Toman (1942-2024)

Judy K. Toman passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, in Ellsworth, Kan. She was born May 27, 1942, to Howard and Alice (O’Neal) Stephen. She grew up in Ellsworth, where she spent summers swimming, lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons to all ages. She graduated from Ellsworth High School then attended Kansas State University to complete a teaching degree focused in history. She married Frank Toman, a fellow KSU student and Ellsworth native, in 1962.

In 1966, Judy and Frank moved to Bowling Green, Ky., where Frank taught at Western Kentucky University. Judy made a home, raised her children and built a family of friends. She was an avid fan of WKU sports, active in her church and an energetic volunteer for her children’s activities. She enjoyed reading, camping, genealogy and many travel adventures. She also completed her master’s degree at WKU while living in Bowling Green.

In 1998, Judy and Frank returned to Ellsworth. Judy was active in her church and in the community, including DAR, the Ellsworth County Historical Society and the Smoky Hills Charitable Foundation.

Judy is survived by her husband Frank; son Troy Toman (Pamela); daughter Tammara Seeger (Matthew); four adored grandchildren, Grace, Will, Thomas and Christopher; a beloved sister Jean Johnson; and nieces, grand nieces and nephews and a loving extended family.

Family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.

A celebration of life service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at Ellsworth First Presbyterian Church.
