Eleanor Lundquist, 97, of Marquette, Kan., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019.
She was born on June 13, 1922, to Pearl (Stone) and Eben Flohr of Marquette. She graduated from Marquette High School and was employed by the Marquette State Bank of Marquette. On Aug. 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to L. L. (LaVern) Lundquist at Freemount Lutheran Church. LaVern preceded her in death in 1995.
With LaVern, Eleanor was active on their farm in the Fremont community as well as in the Freemount Lutheran Church; she was a community leader for many years with the Friendly Fremont 4-H Club and touched the lives of many club members; she was a member of the Mizar Club, Marquette Moderns, Order of the Eastern Star (75 years), American Legion Auxiliary, and the Marquette CCB serving in several volunteer positions or on various committees where she was needed. Eleanor worked at Marquette banks for over 50 years, retiring from Marquette Farmers State Bank in 1991.
She enjoyed dressing in costume for Halloween occasions and loved decorating her home for every holiday. She entertained with many extended family dinners and celebrations including Christmas breakfasts after Julotta services. The candy dish in her room at Riverview was always offered to visitors and staff. She was a talented seamstress, embroiderer, and quilter and also enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards. Eleanor’s daughters and several nieces and nephews graduated from K-State, and she was an avid fan, following the sports teams on radio and television.
She moved from the farm near Freemount Church back to Marquette in 2012 and became a member of the Elim Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: daughters, Marcia Stockham (Steve) of Manhattan, Kan. and Kathy Windall (John) of Tucson Ariz.; grandchildren, Erik Stockham, (Jessica) Arlington, Va., Mark Stockham (Jessica), Lawrence, Kan., Brianne Anderson (Olaf), Thousand Oaks, Calif., Christopher Windall, Tucson, Ariz., and Julie Windall, Tucson, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Davis and Cooper Anderson, Tanner Welch, Roland and Margaret Stockham, and Abigail Stockham; brother-in-law, Don Lundquist (Dixie), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LaVern, and sisters, Marilyn Gregwire and Joan Wickstrom.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Elim Lutheran Church in Marquette.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, also at the Elim Lutheran Church. Inurnment will follow at Freemount Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lindsborg.
