But the flags could still be seen flying over the community cemetery and the sound of TAPS drifted across the graves of fallen veterans. Missing was the choir that has been part of the Memorial Day observance for more than a generation. In addition, the Freemount Lutheran Church did not serve its annual luncheon after the final American Legion service at the Fremont Cemetery because social distancing is not possible in the church basement.
