Carolyn Sue Shank (1940-2020)

Carolyn Sue Shank, 79, Salina, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family at 2:34 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2020.

She was born Oct. 31, 1940, in Herington, Kan., the daughter of Muriel Velerie (Nott) Oliver and Glen Crandall Stice.

On July, 16, 1977, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Shank Sr., at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina, Kan.

She received a degree in accounting from Brown Mackie College, loved the Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers football teams, KU football, gardening, reading and dancing.

Carolyn and Bob owned and operated Robert “Bob” Shank Auction Service for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Salina VFW Post 1432.

Survivors include her children, Tim (Liz) Ponting, Marquette, Jeff (Kelly) Ponting, McPherson, Terri Sue Ponting Boyer, Salina, and Robert Shank Jr. (Janet), Gleason, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 5.6 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Carol Weiss, New Cambria; and her beloved dog, Missy.

Cremation was chosen.

A graveside service was at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2020, at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Donations may be given to Kindred Hospice, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kan. 67401.
