Getting ready for special guests

Growing up, I loved having company over to our house. It meant we would pull out our favorite recipes, dress ourselves up and be reminded to use our best manners. I also have very fond memories of our family working together to get ready. We’d spend the morning with music playing as I was dusting, my sister was vacuuming and dad was sprucing up the yard. It really was a family affair.

SALINA — The Ellsworth volleyball team traveled to Salina Sept. 16 to take on the Sacred Heart Knights in a league double- header. The Bearcats made a clean sweep of Sacred Heart with scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-15, 25-11.

The Ellsworth girls’ tennis team hosted seven teams at their invitational tournament Sept. 18 and managed to claim a first place team victory against heavy competition after a nailbiting morning of heavy rain showers.
