LORRAINE — Seventeen farmers gathered around Kansas State University professor Allan Fritz May 21 as he explained the pros and cons of each wheat test variety, marked with purple labels staked in the ground. Each variety planted south of Lorraine came from an assortment of companies and breeding entities, such as K-State, Colorado State, Oklahoma State and other private companies.
