About a week ago, Kermit Rush and Steve Dlabal learned they had been exposed to the cornavirus during a regular Monday commission meeting at the courthouse. Into quarantine they went. A third commissioner, Dennis Rolfs, was already at home, after testing positive for the virus following a family birthday party.

Wheat drilled last month has popped up providing a spiky looking cover to fields for the winter. Corn and soybeans have been harvested and shipped off to the elevator. It was the coldest race of the season, with temperatures right around the freezing mark. In order to be guaranteed a spot at the state meet in Wamego, Oct. 31, runners must finish in the overall top 10 or be a member of one of the top 2 teams.

The Ellsworth Bearcats traveled the distance on Friday night to face the Minneapolis Lions in a frigid hardfought battle. The ‘Cats were trampled 43-12, ending their dreams of making it to postseason play.
