Freezing rain and high winds Oct. 27 led to large power outages for parts of southwest Oklahoma. Following the extensive damage to power lines and poles, Kansas electric cooperative line crews from Western Cooperative Electric and 13 other Kansas cooperatives sent crews to assist five Oklahoma cooperatives that requested mutual aid assistance. The response was organized by Kansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. to help restore the thousands of power outages caused by the storm.
