Father Joshua Werth of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth and St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Kanopolis, left, gives his National Day of Prayer message May 5 to those gathered on the second floor of the Ellsworth County Courthouse. He prayed that everyone return to God and His truth. Father Werth said the pouring rain outside the courthouse at the time of the event was evidence of the power of united prayer. He then read the National Proclamation distributed for the National Day of Prayer. That was followed by a brief comments and a prayer by David Miller, who led the ceremony on behalf of the Ellsworth County Ministerial Alliance. The Ellsworth Singers also performed.
