In the April 21 edition of the Ellsworth County Independent-Reporter, we published a cartoon that prompted an outcry from Wilson residents and several e-mails. The subject of the editorial cartoon was the decision earlier this month by the Central Plains School District to consolidate grades 7-12 at Claflin, leaving Wilson with only elementary grades.

We would propose that appreciation come not just during one week in the spring, but year-round, and that it should extend to all those who work in Kansas public schools.
