Wilma Mall (1931-2021)
Wilma Mall, 90, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in Ellsworth. Born Florence Wilma Knox Jan. 12, 1931 in Talmage, Kan., she was the second daughter to Harry L. “Curly” Knox and Ellen M. “Jim” (Roberts) Knox. With a family of members with nicknames, she would be known as “Panny” to family and friends.
Wilma’s parents bred and raced greyhounds. They moved from Talmage to Abilene, Kan. to a home on old Hwy 40 where they owned and ran a dog farm. Wilma attended Abilene High School and graduated in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart, Harlan M. “Herb” Mall, Feb. 5, 1950 in her parent’s home. Two daughters were born to this union, Nancy Kay and Julie Ann.
As a child and an adult, she always volunteered to watch babies and younger children. Even at family reunions or when visiting friends, she was always drawn to the babies. When her daughters were grown and having their own babies, she was always around. She was a much-loved grandmother to five and great-grandmother to 12.
Wilma is survived by her daughters, Nancy (John) DeWeese and Julie Seyfert; grandchildren, Stephanie (Sam) Mills, Christopher (Sharlyn) DeWeese and Heather (Gene) McElroy, Jeremy (Beth) Seyfert and Casey (Amanda) Seyfert; and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Austin, and Hannah Mills, Megan and Conner McElroy, Reiley and Gage Seyfert, Grady, Tatum, Crosby, Slade and Sloan Seyfert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herb; and son-in-law, Terry Seyfert.
Visitation is from 1-8 p.m., Friday, April 2, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 3, at First United Methodist Church, Ellsworth.
Burial is at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 3, at Prairiedale Cemetery, Talmage.
