Judith Ann “Judy” Siemsen (1945-2024)

Judith Ann “Judy” Siemsen, 79, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, in Great Bend, Kan. She was born March 27, 1945, in Wichita, Kan. On Nov. 18, 1946, she was adopted by Leo and Renata (Schulz) Mehl. Judy married Robert Siemsen on Oct. 28, 1979, in Holyrood, Kan. The couple settled in the area, and Judy became a farm wife and helped raise cattle. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Holyrood.

Judy is survived by her daughter Sheila Meyer (Scott), Burrton, Kan.; daughter Sheri Yager (Brian), Great Bend, Kan.; son Steve Siemsen (Sherry), Holyrood; daughter Julie Nienke (Bob), Lorraine, Kan.; 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; brother James Mehl, Conway Springs, Kan.; and son-in-law Mike Volavka, Caldwell, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert and daughter Debbie Volavka.

Visitation is from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family present from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 2024, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Holyrood, with burial following at the church cemetery.
