Warren Gail Campbell (1939-2026)

Warren Gail Campbell, 86, passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, in Ellsworth, Kan. He was born Nov. 25, 1939, in Ellsworth County to Robert “Pete” and Marie (Irvine) Campbell. He married Lena Tummons in Lawrence, Kan., on Nov. 3, 1963. Warren was a lifelong cowboy, farmer and most of all, a shorthorn cattle breeder. He passed this love of land and animal stewardship on to his daughters, granddaughters, his grandson and other young people in his life. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and his knowledge to others by serving as a leader in the 4-H clubs and the Kansas Shorthorn Association. While still farming and taking care of the cattle, he became a school bus driver for USD 327 and drove students safely for nearly 30 years.

Warren is survived by his wife Lena of Ellsworth; daughers Jennifer Johnson (Tony), Salina, Kan., and Valerie Nichols (Terry), Alvord, Texas; son Jamie Westerhaus (Tammy), Lipan, Texas; grandchildren Taylor Tiemann (Matt), Lacey Hornung (Daniel) and Clay Hokr (Kalynn); and great-granddaughter Ellie Hornung. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Angela.

Visitation is from 1-8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Family will be present to greet visitors from 6-8 p.m.

Graveside funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, at Geneseo Cemetery.
