Virginia Kay (Stucky) Florian (1951-2023)

Virginia Kay (Stucky) Florian passed away on Aug. 29, 2023, at her home in Wilson, Kan., at the age of 72. She was born on April 3, 1951, to Benjamin and Elma (Krehbiel) Stucky in Moundridge, Kan. She married Jerry Florian on April 19, 1970, and together they were blessed with three sons, Greg, David and Brian.

Virginia grew up in Moundridge and graduated from Moundridge High School in 1969. She attended cosmetology school in Wichita and worked as a hairdresser for several years. She later went back to school at Barton Community College and became a registered dietician. She worked at Wilson Care and Rehab as a dietician for many years.

She and Jerry owned Florian Audio Visual, which took them all over the United States, working with many churches and schools. They even got to meet Dustin Hoffman and Michael Landon. Virginia also did silkscreen printing for Eschbaugh Advertising and owned Grandma’s Soda Shop with Jerry in their latter years.

Virginia loved flowers, although she did not have a green thumb! She enjoyed baking, especially for the Czech Festival, and was famous for her bierocks and kolaches. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren and dog Daisy, which were her pride and joy.
Virginia leaves behind her husband, Jerry, of the home, Wilson; sons Greg Florian, Wilson and Brian (Amanda) Florian, Wilson; nine grandchildren: Brad Florian, Tyler Florian, Brittany (Jeff) Corpening, Sarah Florian, Zander Florian, Riley Florian, Andrew Florian, Alexa (Triton) Cole and Daniel Florian; six great-grandchildren: Macy Cole, Roy Cole, Paxton Florian, Cora Florian, Grayson Florian and Skylar Florian; and her beloved dog Daisy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Elma Stucky; son David Florian; brother Homer Stucky; and grandson Maxwell “Max” Florian.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Wilson. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
