Jeanne Louise Heki (1950-2023)

Jeanne Louise Heki of Wilson, Kan., passed away on March 16, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Ellsworth, Kan., at the age of 72. She was born on Dec. 26, 1950, to Louis and Louise (Aasa) Motis in Pioche, Nev.

Jeanne grew up in Nevada and graduated from Henderson Nevada High School in 1968. She went on to college at UNLV in Nevada and attained her master’s in nursing administration. She was a nurse in California and Nevada. She also was a legal nurse consultant and a nursing home administrator. When she moved back to Kansas, she was a nursing instructor at Brown Mackie College in Salina and helped with emergency preparedness in Wilson. Jeanne was an avid quilter and baked for everyone in town. She loved Christmastime and always made it a grand event.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Elizabeth Heki of Wilson, Christina Heki of San Antonio, Texas, and Christopher Heki of Salina; five grandchildren, Jessica-Leigh Gero, Morgan Grover, Dakato Jones, Cheyenne Jones and Hunter Jones; and four great-grandchildren, Lilith Gero, Damian Grimshaw Gero, Gabriel Jones and Maxine Jones.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Louise Motis.

The family will lead a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salina, Kan.
