Glenda June Armstrong (1940-2025)

Glenda June Armstrong, 85, formerly of Ellsworth, Kan., and Salina, Kan., died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was born April 2, 1940, in Sterling, Kan., to Willis and Glenda Gale (Gable) Austin. 

Glenda worked for many years as a teller at Citizens State Bank & Trust in Ellsworth, and retired in 2006. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ellsworth. Glenda moved to North Carolina in 2011 to be near her daughters, and enjoyed living on the family farm and watching the grandkids, horses and deer wander through the fields. She was an avid KU basketball fan, loved to watch murder mysteries and could often be found completely immersed in a book or puzzle. 

Glenda married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Dale Armstrong, on Nov. 30, 1958, and they were married for 52 years until his passing in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents and son Jerry Dale Armstrong II. Glenda is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Armstrong Gaston (Kale) and Audrey Armstrong; grandchildren Avery Armstrong and Holden and Jennifer Grace Mendez, all of Advance, N.C., as well as Jerry Brockamp, Canyon City, Calif.; Austin Armstrong, Salina, Kan.; and Tiffani Armstrong, Topeka, Kan.; and seven great-grandchildren. 

Cremation was selected, and there will be no visitation or service at Glenda’s request.
