Evelyn Frances (Vanek) Gipson (1947-2024)

Evelyn Frances (Vanek) Gipson of Salina, Kan., passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, in the Pinnacle Park Nursing Home.

She was born to Cirel and Virgina (Walker) Vanek Feb. 9, 1947, in Ellsworth, Kan., and grew up on the family farm with her siblings in Carneiro, Kan.

Evelyn graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1965 and attended Brown Mackie Business School, Salina. She met and married Leroy Gipson after moving to California.

Upon returning to Kansas, she worked in Salina and finished her career with TLC Professionals, a job she enjoyed, providing in-home care and assistance to her clients.

Evelyn was an avid card player and enjoyed visiting with family at the Walker Reunions.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by both her parents; a sister, Nancy Vanek, and a brother, Ernie Vanek.

She is survived by her brothers, Albert, Jim and Mike Vanek, as well as numerous family members.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Carneiro Cemetery. A meal will be offered at the Carneiro Fellowship Hall following a short service.
