Ellen 'Nan' Langston (1934-2019)

Ellen 'Nan' Langston, 85, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 at her home in Holyrood. Sarah Ellen Fortner was born July 13, 1934 in St. Joe, Ark. to Otto and Jessie (Elam) Fortner.
Ellen married Bobby Jim Langston in Holyrood on July 2, 1955. She worked as a cook at the Little Chef in Holyrood then for USD 328 in Holyrood and USD 428 in Great Bend. She later worked as a beautician in Holyrood after attending beauty school. Ellen was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Holyrood and the church Women’s Guild as well as the American Legion Post 200 Auxiliary. She was also a member and worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Holyrood and later Hoisington.
Ellen is survived by her son, Roger Langston (Brenda) of Holyrood; daughter, Robie Lewallen of Holyrood; grandchildren, Tony Lamia, Jr., Bobbie Jo Rogers, Stephanie Langston, Jason Fanatia, Chris Fanatia, and Mandi Griffin; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Fortner (Wanda) of Harrison, Ark.; and sisters, Lucille Dart and Judith Dart (Paul) both of Harrison, Ark. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby; grandson, Jared Paul Langston; sisters, Nadine Davenport and Myrtle Anderson; and brothers, Ray and Rex Fortner.
 Visitation is from 1-8 p.m, Monday, Nov. 11 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with burial following in the church cemetery.
