Eleanora “Ellie” M. Douglass (1938-2024)

Eleanora “Ellie” M. Douglass, 85, of Ellsworth, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024. She was born in Hoxie, Kan., on Jan. 29, 1938, to Ludwig “Louis” C. Bieker and Ludwina (Munsch) Bieker. She married William “Bill” R. Douglass in Hoxie on Nov. 7, 1955. They were blessed with four children, Diana Douglass, Independence, Mo., Tina Heinze (Robert, deceased), Lincoln, Kan., Terry Douglass (Melinda), Siloam Springs, Ark., and Curt Douglass (Jeanne), Newton, Kan.

Ellie worked with Bill at their businesses in Lincoln and Tescott, Kan. She also taught CCD classes for many years in Lincoln and made many quilts for family and friends. She was always on the go!
Ellie is survived by her children and siblings Eugene (Pauletta), Oberlin, Kan., Alex Bieker (Willetta) McCook, Neb., Elizabeth Stillman (Albert, deceased) and Mary K. Sanders (William, deceased),Hoxie; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, five brothers and three sisters.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Ellsworth. A Rosary recitation will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday at the church prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Denison Cemetery, Denison, Kan.
