Doris Louise Elizabeth VonFange (1925-2020)

Doris Louise Elizabeth VonFange, 95, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020, in Salina. She was born Feb. 7, 1925 in Lincoln to Wilhelm Gottlieb and Edietha Karoline Friederika (Strathmann) Aufdemberge.

Doris married Lawrence William Otto VonFange May 20, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Lincoln. 

She grew up attending St. John Lutheran Church where she was baptized Feb. 15, 1925 and confirmed April 2, 1939. She attended St. John Parochial School, Lincoln High School, and St. John College in Winfield. 

Over the years, she worked at the WIBW radio station in Topeka, Lincoln High School, Lincoln Co. Hospital, and was a bookkeeper at Quartzite Stone Company in Lincoln for over 30 years. She also served on boards of the Lincoln Art Center, Lincoln Hospital Auxiliary, and Friends of the Library. After marriage, she was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Lincoln and the church’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Cathy Bruce (Edward) of Salina; granddaughter, Mickey Dick (Chad) of Baldwin City; great-grandchildren, Eli and Cason Dick; sister, Lorna Rikkels of Chula Vista, Calif.; brothers, Erwin Aufdemberge (Judy) of Detroit, Mich., Alfred Aufdemberge (Marj) of Lincoln, Roger Aufdemberge (Cheri) of Lyons, and Vernon Aufdemberge of Lincoln. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Edietha Aufdemberge; step-mother, Ella Guttendorfer Aufdemberge; husband, Lawrence; brothers, Leonard, Carl, and William Aufdemberge; and sister, Edna VonFange.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lincoln. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date. 

Parsons Funeral Home — Hall Chapel in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Lincoln Art Center, in care of Parsons Funeral Home – Hall Chapel, 111 E. Elm, Lincoln, Kan. 67455.
