Doris Dolezal (1936-2023)

Doris M. (Jennrich) Dolezal, 87, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in Wilson, Kan. She was born on Feb. 15, 1936, in Russell, Kan., to Frank Royal Sr. and Violet Rose (Heard) Jennrich. Doris met Wenslow Dolezal at the skating rink in Ellsworth, Kan., and they were united in marriage on Aug. 26, 1958, in Russell. She lived in Russell, Fairport, Salina and on the family farm near Kanopolis, Kan. Doris and Wenslow were blessed with one son, Douglas.

Doris was raised in the Russell area. She attended grade school at Russell Grade School, Fay School and Fairport Grade School. She attended high school in Paradise for one year and three years in Natoma, where she graduated. Doris played basketball and volleyball. Following high school, she moved to Salina with her sister and worked as a certified nurse aide at Asbury Hospital for two years. Doris was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic church in Ellsworth, the Sunflower Polka Club and Jolly Mixers Dance Club. She liked travelling with her husband, dancing, roller skating, raising Pekingese puppies and growing African violets.

Doris is survived by her son Douglas Dolezal of Kanopolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Violet Jennrich; husband Wenslow Dolezal; sister Betty Soukup; brothers Frank Jr., Robert and William Dean Jennrich; and niece Marcia Ann Soukup.

Visitation is from 1-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Family will be present 6-7 p.m. A Vigil and Rosary Service will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home following visitation.

Funeral Mass is at 10 a.m.  Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Ellsworth, with burial following at Kanopolis Cemetery.
