Charles “Charlie” Joseph Vondra (1930-2022)

Charles “Charlie” Joseph Vondra, 92, passed away Nov. 14, 2022, in Ellsworth. He was born July 4, 1930, in Ellsworth County to Frank and Mary (Svara) Vondra. He went to country school through 8th grade and then attended Ellsworth High School. Charlie married Gloria Milbradt in Ellsworth on Feb. 17, 1963.

Charlie served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953 and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a business owner of Ellsworth Truck and Tractor as well as the Lyons Inn. He was also a farmer and a stockman. He was a member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174, Ellsworth VFW Post 6485, and a member of the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church. Charlie loved his Lord and Savior, his family and his friends.

Charlie is survived by his daughter, Tami McGreevy (Kyle) of Ellsworth; son, Ted Vondra of Salina; granddaughter, Kyli McGreevy of Ellsworth; grandson, Jace McGreevy (Danielle) of Lorraine; great-granddaughters Emma and Josi; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria; brothers, Fred and Frank Vondra; nephew, Steve Vondra; and great-nephew, Ryan Vondra.

Visitation: Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, from 1-8 p.m., with family present from 6-8 p.m, at Parsons Funeral Home.   

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church, with burial following in the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.
