Arthur Jon “Art” Panzer (1948-2025)

Arthur Jon “Art” Panzer, 77, passed away July 29, 2025, at his home in Ellsworth, Kan. He was born Jan. 2, 1948, in Ellsworth to Arthur Louis Panzer and Selma F. (Hildebrandt) Panzer. Art served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam and was a member of the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485. He worked as a wiring supervisor at Elkan and later as a cook supervisor at Ellsworth Correctional Facility before retiring. His hobbies included playing cards and gardening.

Art is survived by his sister Joyce Shields of Lindsborg, Kan.; niece Denise Peterson (Corey), Lindsborg; nephews Dennis A. Shields (Ghada), McLean, Va., and Daryl Shields (Marie), Lindsborg; four great-nieces, one great-nephew, one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Selma.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with inurnment and military honors following at Ellsworth Cemetery.
