Arlene Marie Rolfs (1926-2024)

Arlene Marie Rolfs, 97, of Geneseo, Kan., passed away Oct. 8, 2024, at Riverview Estates, Marquette, Kan. She was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Otis, Kan., the daughter of William and Marie (Hergert) Lebsack. Arlene resided in Geneseo since 1947, formerly of Otis. She graduated from Otis High School with the class of 1944, and attended Fort Hays State University for two years. Arlene received her Bachelor of Science degree from Sterling College. She was a teacher for over eight decades at Geneseo, Kanopolis and Little River, Kan.

Arlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Geneseo, and member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and most of all, spending time with her family.

On June 1, 1947, Arlene was united in marriage with Glen E. Rolfs in Otis. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 2012. She is also preceded in death by her parents and sister Luanne Scheuerman.

Arlene is survived by her three children, Glenda Davis, Albuquerque, N.M., Reed Rolfs, Geneseo and Bradley Rolfs (Royaln), Drexel, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Reuben, Alexandra, Elizabeth, Margaret, William, Holden and Corinne; and five great-grandchildren, Tiberius, Davis, Adelaide, Carter and River.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. Memorials may be given to Riverview Estates in care of Birzer Funeral Home.
