Aaron S. Burwell (1968-2025)

Aaron S. Burwell, 57, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, in Wichita, Kan. He was born Dec. 2, 1968, in Salina, Kan., to John and Patricia (Pruner) Burwell. Aaron was a longtime resident of Kanopolis, Kan., where he worked many jobs, including Independent Salt Co., Hi-Plains Sand and most recently for the City of Kanopolis.

Aaron is survived by his daughter Jessica Stroede (Nathan Warner), Great Bend, Kan., and her children Aryanna and Norah; daughter Sara McCurry (Nolan), Hoisington, Kan.; and son Sam Burwell, Great Bend; mother Patricia McElroy, Portland, Ore.; siblings John “Jack” Burwell (Tracy), Missoula, Mont.; Wendy Stroede (Marc), Kanopolis; Heidi Beal (John), Florence, Kan.; and Luke Burwell, Portland, Ore.; as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.

A celebration of Aaron’s life will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at the Kanopolis Community Center (former American Legion).
